Goodbye Gameloft

I, as of August 13, 2010, am no longer the IT Specialist of Gameloft Philippines.

I am now working for a BPO-type of company located in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. I am their new Senior IT Associate.

It  has only been 2 days since I started working here so I cannot say yet if I made the right decision, leaving Gameloft. So far, the people here treats me nicely. Even this particular person every IT hates has been treating me nicely.

I am also trying to get used to the fact that I am not signed in to my Yahoo Messenger during work as well as not being able to browse my Facebook page. I can however access and in fact write post on my WordPress account (Yes, I am writing while in the office).

As when I was in Teleperformance, I would be seen as the quiet type by my colleagues. I usually do this when I am in a new environment. I am still unsure as to what extent they can take my brand of jokes. I wouldn’t want to have another co-worker hating my guts as what happened in my previous employment.

The IT department has their own office. I am situated in the area where half of my LCD screen can be seen from the outside. I guess this is their rookie spot. There’s another IT that will be joining us soon. Hopefully, I’ll be allowed to give him my current location and I can transfer to a spot where I can browse in peace.

My work PC right now is a Core2Duo which is a bit of an upgrade from my Pentium D PC with Gameloft. I miss my 20″ LG and the fact that I can play DotA and Counter-strike though. One good thing here is that I can probably update my blog more often since there’s nothing else I can do with my PC during my free time.

One thing that I find hard here right now is identifying who the bosses are. Besides the executives, there’s the operations managers, and lots of team leaders. This is a big change from having only one boss in Gameloft.

If I am to compare both Gameloft and my current job, I can’t say clearly which is better. In terms of benefits, my current is better. Besides having OT pay, our Medicare covers not only me but all of my dependents (mom and dad). Should I be married and have childrens, my wife and all of my kids are covered. We also have life insurance which, should I die while still employed here, would give my family at least a million pesos (though I’d rather not avail that benefit anytime soon).

In terms of environment, I’d say I like Gameloft better. Besides working with the Anino boys, we have a game room. We have sleeping quarters and a shower room. We have a weekly scheduled basketball game and of course, there’s the nightly DotA and Counter-strike.

Anyway, I’ll be posting more often now so I hope you guys check my blog from time to time. Wish me luck with my new job as I wish all my friends at Gameloft the same thing.

House of Squared is written by that guy who knows more than the average Duterte supporter, which isn't saying much given that most of them are morons.
