Manilatonight: Social Networking Site

While reading several threads, I found this interesting offspring of MTC called MTC-ning. Ning.com, for those who do not know, is an online platform for people to create their own social networks. Well MTC made one. Upon registering and encoding your profile information, you will be able to see a collage of members profile pictures on the home area. You would also be able to browse profiles that are tagged as PSPs (Personal Service Providers) and would be able to get the information on how to meet them and their rates. Basically, the site is like the Pick-up Places thread in MTC in a Friendster-like layout.
Another site that is of similar theme that just recently came up is http://overdose.ph which I learned of from Buwayahman’s Blog. Anyway, they would be holding a PSP party of some kind so I registered and looked for any information. Well, it does seem that they are going to hold the event this March. I wonder how many PSP would be present, hopefully a few would attend, but I’m dreading that only guys would be attending.
Anyway, I browsed through the site and well, it’s like an MTC-wannabe, except members are unruly. I have my fair share of unruliness in a forum before (fenrirboards) and I was under the impressions back then that mods are a bunch of god-wannabe. I was wrong. Mods enforces rules. Rule enforcement generates order. Without order, we have chaos, and we don’t want that in a forum, right?
Here is a sample:
so as you see, the mod is trying to enforce the rule of dual post. It’s a simple post informing the thread poster that there is already a similar thread and advised him to back-read. “Walang basagan ng trip?” e kung trip nung mod na i-ban ka?
Hopefully, the mods can maintain control and assert their authority likeĀ with Manilatonight and Pinoy Tambay mods does. Of course, I hope that Overdose.ph becomes a successful board as, even though I like MTC, I like competitions. Coca-Cola wouldn’t be hell bent in advertising their product and doing promotions if there is no Pepsi.
Update: For reasons unknown, MTC-ning has been down for maintenance for more than a week.
