AKB48: Request Hour Set List Best 100 2013

1201061

Okay, as what happens every year in the AKB48 world, we have our top 100 songs for the year. Interesting to note is how this is the first Request Hour Post Acchan. Some things to look forward to is will Hebi Rote makes a 3 peat? How high will Manatsu no Sounds Good Ranks (being the highest selling girl group single of Japan of all time and sharing the distinction with Flying Get as the singles that won the top prize at the Japan Records Awards, which is something that cannot be said about that Karaoke song of the year. Honestly how does that sound in an argument, Yeah her song won Japan Records Award but our Oshi’s song won the Karaoke Award, really are you even hearing yourself talk, It’s like comparing the winner of Ms Teen USA to Ms Universe, But oh well I guess they take what they can). Anyway, that’s it for my hater talk. On with the results courtesy of Nihongogo Forums – The best AKB48 Related Forum on the web.

Day 1: Notable here is how a lot of Day 4 songs from last year Request Hour drops to Day 1 and the part where Blue Rose didnt appear on Day 1 which is usually the case.

100. Gomen ne, Summer (SKE48 3rd Single)
99. Boku no Yell (Theater Girls AKB48 16th Single)

91. Manazashi Sayonara (KII3 Furukawa, Ogiso)
90. Pareo wa Emerald (SKE48 6th Single)
89. Kimi to Boku no Kankei (Koko ni Ita Koto Album – Shimazaki, Itano)
88. Shoujotachi yo (Koko ni Ita Koto Album)

77. Kaze wa Fuiteiru (AKB48 23rd Single)
76. Dakishimeraretara (K5 – Kasai, Kuramochi, Kikuchi)

Day 2: Interesting to mention is how Flying Get, last year’s #3 dropped to 54 and how Show Fight (Future Girls) beats Nante Bohemian (under girls) when Under girls are supposedly more popular than the Future Girls. Oh and Choose Me made it on the list and not Enkyori Poster, when Enkyori Poster has met better ranking a few years back.

75. Wimbledon he Tsuretette (S3 – Yagumi, Suda, Kizaki)
74. Seigi no Mikata janai Hero (Umeda Team B AKB48 28th Single)

52. Gyakuten Oujisama (K6 – Uchida, Minegishi, Nakatsuka)
51. Show Fight! (Future Girls AKB48 27th Single)

Day 3: Interesting to note is how Kurukurupa made a back 2 back appearance in Request Hour, a few years back it only ranks every other year. Oh and big disappointment on Managu placing at a measly 34. I still stand by the reason that this is because of Maeda leaviing.

50. Oogoe Diamond (AKB48 10th Single)
49. Junai no Crescendo (A4 – no3b)
48. RESET (K6 – Akimoto Team K)
47. Everyday, Katyusha (AKB48 21st Single)

27. Temodemo no Namida (B3 – Kashiwagi, Watanabe Mayu)
26. Dakishimechaikenai (Undergirls AKB48 22nd Single)

Day 4: Hashire Penguin got the Kodoku no Runner treatment, so I guess when SKE48 finally disband next year due to the great number of core members resigning last year, We may finally see an SKE48 song in the top 10. Big surprise at #5 Mushi no Ballad. I guess pity vote for Sayaka losing her captain title to Yuko.

25. Plastic no Kuchibiru (AKB48 1850m Album Shinoda Mariko)
24. Junjou Shugi (B3 – Katayama, Nakaya, Nito)

AKB48: Request Hour Setlist Best 100 2012

From January 19 to January 22, AKB48 will hold their annual Request Hour Setlist Best 100.

What is this concert about?

It is a concert where they will perform 100 songs based on what the fans voted. Last year’s Kaze Wa Fuite Iru single contains a ballot for fans to use to vote. There are other ways to vote like subscribing like being a mobile subscriber, an official app subscriber for smartphone users, and LOD (Live On Demand) subscriber.

The concert is held for 4 days. On day 1, the girls will sing rank 100 to 76, day 2 will be from 75 to 51, 3rd day is 50 to 26 and the last day is from 25 to 1. This year there are 3 new things that was announced. First is the no sub unit rule. A lot of last year’s song were from different sub-units so removing them this year opens up the possibility of old favorites entering the top 100 again. Second is that a 5th day will be dedicated for sub unit songs so Yay for that too. And 3rd is the no grad member rule which sucks.

Below is the result for Day 1:

Day 1 started with one of my favorite theater song, B5’s Theater no Megami. It was ranked #51 last year so it was a bit of a disappointment for me. AKB Sanjou, one of my newer favorite ranked #95 which is a small jump up from #97 last year. 16 shimai no uta dropped 3 places.

First Love took a huge drop from last year’s #16 to #83 this year. Another disappointment the fact that it was neither Erena Ono nor Watanabe Mayu performed the song. Blue Rose, on the upside, jumped up from #90 to #80. On the downside, Meetan was replaced.

I will post day 2 tomorrow around the same time as today. I hope NMB48’s first two single appears on day 4.

Day 3 is done and not a lot of my favorite is here so it’s either 25th to 1st will be a medley of my favorite songs or none of my favorite songs made it (highly doubt that). Some of my favorite songs on day 3 are 10nen Zakura (my favorite sakura song), Shoujotachi Yo, and Sakura no Ki ni Narou. There’s also that cursed song that dropped 22 places from 11th place last year. Thanks to Wil of Nihongogo for the list. No Kareha yet so there’s still the chance that it will still be the most beloved SKE song.

Remember, you can watch Day 4 concert on their official Youtube channel and on Google+.

Damn it, here’s Day 4:

1. Heavy Rotation

Yeah, fucking Heavy Rotation. The rest of my reaction maybe tomorrow, I’m going to drown myself with alcohol tonight.

So yeah, EbiRote is a back to back #1 song becoming the 2nd AKB franchise song to achieve a back to back on a request hour. Yes, second AKB franchise song, the first one to achieve the feat is Kareha no Station which has been the number 1 SKE song on their request hour for 2 years in a row now.

In my opinion, having a song achieve back to back 1st place is a bad thing for the group. It means that the group has not moved on from last year. It may seem to some that their growth has not improved since then.

Anyway, enough of EbiRote, let’s talk about the rest of the songs on the list. 3 NMB48 songs made it to day 4, the highest of which is Oh My God which is also my favorite NMB song for now. Big drop in the ranking is Ponytail and Beginner. Ponytail went from number 3 to number 25. Beginner, from number 2 to number 18.

Iiwake Maybe also dropped from number 4 to number 11 which is nice seeing that last year’s number 3 and 4 is lower. Hopefully, they show Yukirin’s smile on the DVD version. (They didn’t in the Google Plus streaming). Kareha has finally been beaten by an SKE song albeit just one place higher.

Biggest surprise of the day is Kurukuruppa which was out of the ranking last year but made it as high as #14.

Disappointed that Oshibe to Meshibe, Keibetsu, and Seifuku ga Jama wo Suru didn’t make it back even with the lack of sub-unit songs.

My favorite 2011 song only reached #2. Furage only reached number 4, breaking the trend of election winner single being the usual #1 song. I blame the bullshit they pulled with the story version where Mayuyu’s only line is when she laughed and Jurina (#14) having more speaking part and screen time than Rena (#10). It seems I’m not the only one who hated that song.

Anyway, that’s it for this year’s Request Hour Setlist Best 100. Tomorrow is the sub-unit concert. Not sure if it’s going to be ranked but if it is, I’m hoping Maeda Atsuko’s Flower gets first place.
